Low Cost Car Insurance
Obtaining low cost car insurance is a challenge for urban dwellers as vehicle theft and vandalism rates are three times the UK average in a city, in addition city drivers are more likely to be involved in a collision.
The cost of car insurance can vary by as much as around £300 a year depending on your geographical location; research by AA, the UK’s largest motor insurance, has revealed that living in the city will result in higher premiums.
Andrew Briscoe, the managing director of AA Insurance Services, explains that despite these discouraging figures, you can further your chances of finding low cost car insurance by simply shopping around.
"A good broker will check the market for a more competitive quote and offer alternatives at renewal time. You may also consider restricting the drivers on your policy, driving an older or smaller car, opting for a larger excess, or fitting better security."
Whether you are a candidate for low cost car insurance will also depend on the make and model of your car as there are 20 insurance groups, segregated by value, performance, and cost of replacement parts, your occupation can also play a part in the cost of premiums: an actor will be charged more than an office worker for their car insurance for example.
