Cheap Young Driver Car Insurance
What is the definition of a young driver? For the purpose of insurance, some firms will classify anyone under 28 as a ‘young driver’, and for others the benchmark may be under 25; either way if you’re in these bandings locating cheap young driver car insurance will be more than challenging.
Research has shown that young drivers are up to 2 seconds slower when recognising potential dangers, and in turn a young male aged 17-20 is 9 times more likely to be at fault for an accident than someone aged 31-40, in addition young drivers make more journeys at night when visibility is poor and accidents more commonplace.
Statistically a young driver in comparison to a more experienced motorist is more likely to be speeding, driving when drunk or drugged, driving the morning after a heavy drinking session, and talk on a mobile phone while driving.
These substantial risks need to be covered by higher insurance premiums, and even those companies who claim to offer cheap young driver car insurance, aren’t likely to offer ‘truly’ cheap premiums. Although they may be able to offer a lower quote in comparison to other insurers, they still need to account for additional risk just like any other insurer.
