The most important thing when looking for car insurance is obviously the insurance quote given by your potential insurer. However it is always wise to compare the quotes you receive together with the fine detail of the insurance policy. Many car insurance quotations differ drastically but not just in price. Some insurers may offer extras such as roadside assistance or a courtesy car should yours require repairs. These extras may or may not justify the higher quotation in your eyes.

One important detail to check is that any factory fitted extras are covered by your car insurance policy. Many insurers will only replace your car with a standard model in the event of a total write off.

Most policies require some form of excess payment in event of a claim, generally the higher the excess you are willing to pay the cheaper your car insurance quote will be.

So to summarise always check the policy details and the cheapest car insurance quote may not neccessarily be the best for you.
